Welcome to the April 2008 NRS eNotes!

Every month or two NRS eNotes highlight additions and attractions of the NRSWeb site, as well as inform you of any upcoming events. Forward this on to other adult education staff in your state and encourage others to sign up to eNotes by emailing nrs@air.org!  

NRS Summer Regional Training

We are pleased to announce that our annual NRS regional training this year will be on Building and Sustaining Quality in NRS Data: Strategies for Program Improvement.

San Francisco (West)                 Tuesday, July 8 to Thursday, July 10

Austin, TX (South)                        Tuesday, July 15 to Thursday, July 17

Bethesda, MD (East/Midwest)   Tuesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 31

Registrants must receive approval from the State director to attend this training as part of a team. After receiving approval from your State director, please plan to attend in the region or the location closest to you.  To register online, click here.

We Would Like to Hear from You!

In the development of training materials for the Summer training, we would like to hear examples of how programs who have access to NRS data are motivating staff and teachers to effectively use it.

Specifically, we are looking for examples of programs that:


1. provide incentives to staff when they determine that students have met their goals/outcomes based on the data,
       

2. withhold resources from staff when they determine that students have not met their goals/outcomes based on the data,
      

3. market their programs and classes to the community, including potential students and funders, using the data,
       

4. require or encourage teachers to use the data to assess class progress and adjust instruction,
       

5. work together with teachers to assess the impact of their program using the data and consider ways to make program improvements,
      

6. require teachers and staff to sign a contract or memorandum of understanding committing to effective data use or good performance, and 
       

7. encourage competition between programs or other entities based on student and/or program performance.
