New ESL Descriptors for PY 2006
New ESL educational functioning levels for PY 2006 are now available, which split the old current ESL level and discontinue ESL advanced.

Guidelines for Conducting the Follow-up Survey

2008 Training on Building and Sustaining NRS Quality Data - DRAFT

Release Date: June 2008

This guide helps meet the need for continuous training by providing a basic summary of the NRS and clarifying NRS requirements. The guide also offers a new look at basic issues for NRS veterans and returns to the fundamental concepts—building quality data and using data for program improvement—that were the subject of previous guides.

Note: The final draft of this guide will be released late Summer 2008.

2007 Training on Desk Monitoring

This guide introduces desk monitoring and its essential elements, and lays out how to plan, implement, and use desk monitoring.

2006 Training on Learning to Be an NRS Data Detective

Authors: Larry Condelli, Natalia Pane, Steve Coleman, Dahlia Shaewitz, and David Hollender

Release Date: June 2006

This guide focuses on five sides to making NRS work: two foundational elements that must be in place to collect and use data (data collection policies and procedures and a state data system) and policies and procedures in three areas (assessment, goal setting, and follow-up measures) for collecting NRS core outcomes.

2005 Training on Developing Report Cards

2004 Training on Developing an NRS Data System

This guide is designed to help state and local adult education staff make informed decisions on the design and development of a data system. It outlines a process for identifying requirements that reflects the range of needs from functional and operational perspectives.

2004 Training on NRS Data Monitoring for Program Improvement
Author: Larry Condelli, Peggy Seufert, and Steve Coleman
Release Date: April 2004
This workshop is the fourth in a training series designed to promote the quality and use of data collected under the NRS. The goal of the workshop is to provide training to State staff on how to meet requirements to set local program performance standards, and how to better monitor and continuously improve their local programs using NRS data.

2003 Training on Using Data

In addition to explaining basic concepts and issues about data, this guide also includes a framework and model for using NRS data for program management and improvement.

2002 Guidance and Training on Data Quality

The purpose of this guide is to provide practical, easy to understand information and materials for state and local staff that clarify the data collection process and explain NRS procedures for ensuring the collection of quality data.
