A primary goal of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is to help adults succeed in the labor force by connecting them with employment opportunities, education, training, and other support services. Nevertheless, the legislation recognizes that certain groups face more barriers to entering the labor market than others. In this webinar, state staff from Georgia and Massachusetts discussed the benefits of a comprehensive intake approach for collecting data on barriers to employment, challenges they have faced in their efforts, and successful strategies they have implemented that allow them to report performance indicators disaggregated by these barriers.
